Although there are scenes with dark rain that hangs like a black haze and makes the heart feel depressed, the scenes where the rain reflects the sunlight and creates a fantastic landscape are particularly recommended. (Harukaze Amber).

The depiction of rain and water was very impressive, such as the scene where the rain clears up and the sun shines through, and the scene where the main character’s body turns watery. The scenes not only exist within the world of anime, but also linked to the recent problems of abnormal weather patterns such as sudden heavy rainfall and linear precipitation zones, and makes the viewer think deeply about these things.

Ranking of Top 8 Rain-themed Anime: No. 2 “The Garden of Words”

      Quote:

        U-NEXT

Year of release: 2013
Director: Makoto Shinkai
Original Story: Makoto Shinkai
Production Company: Shinkai Creative, CoMix Wave Film
Theme Song: Rain by Motohiro Hata
Official Website
Twitter

In second place is “The Garden of Words,” an animated film directed by Shinkai Makoto, just like “Weathering with You” in first place. Set in Tokyo, this is a love story about a mature 15-year-old boy, Takao, and a mysterious 27-year-old woman, Yukino, who meet by chance during the rainy season and begin to have feelings for each other. The sad story and the depiction of rain go hand in hand, with the two only being able to meet on rainy days, the depiction of various types of rain, such as heavy rainfall, an evening shower, and the beauty of the imagery that evokes emotions, has captivated many fans of “The Garden of Worlds”.

Comments and Reviews

The work depicts the rainy season, so there are many scenes of rain. The rain is expressed in various ways depending on the scene. The rain swells as if it were a living creature, and then it falls gently and calmly, much like the emotions of the characters in the story. The richness of the rain’s expressions is impressive in itself.

This love story depicts the meeting of a man and a woman who meet only on a rainy day. I was impressed by the depiction of a Japanese garden and its reflection on the water surface and the shaking caused by the rain. I don’t think there is any other anime that has put so much effort into depicting rain so realistic. This anime has changed my perception of rain.

Ranking of Top 8 Rain-themed Anime: No. 3 “My Neighbor Totoro”

Quote:Amazon

Year of release: 1988
Director: Hayao Miyazaki
Original Story: Hayao Miyazaki
Production Company: Studio Ghibli
Theme Song: “My Neighbor Totoro” by Azumi Inoue
Official Website

In third place is “My Neighbor Totoro,” a film produced by Studio Ghibli and written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the master of Japanese animation who has created numerous masterpieces. Set in Japan in the late 1950s, this fantasy film depicts the interaction between the Kusakabe sisters, Satsuki and Mei, who moved to a country town deep in the mountains, and a mysterious creature that is said to only be visible to children, Totoro. In the survey, many people said they would never forget the scene where Satsuki and Mei met Totoro at the bus stop on a rainy day.

Comments and Reviews

The first time Satsuki met Totoro was at a bus stop when it was raining. The way Satsuki lent her umbrella to Totoro and he smiled and jumped when he heard and liked the sound of the rain hitting his umbrella remains impressive in my memory.

I love the scene where Mei and Satsuki are waiting for their father at the bus stop with an umbrella when it suddenly starts to rain, and Totoro comes and borrows their umbrella to wait for the cat bus. I chose this scene because I liked the sound of the raindrops hitting the umbrella, Totoro jumps and drops a lot of water from the tree, and the scene suddenly changes from a dim and uneasy atmosphere to a fun and happy one. Fans said, “his movie condenses everything about rain in the rain and after the rain.

Comments and Reviews

The anime work conveys both the harshness and beauty of life in nature. Rain, a natural phenomenon, nurtures life for plants and animals, but at the same time it is a threat to the environment. In the rain scene in the latter half of the film, the sound of the rain, the way it falls, and other details are carefully depicted, adding precision to the entire work and grabbing the viewer’s heart.

As the title suggests, the rain is very impressive. I like this work because of the fineness and delicacy of the scene of heavy raindrops and light rain, and the realistic sound of thunder and rain that immerses the viewer in the beautiful world. Usually, the work feels comical because of the tempo of the characters’ double acts, but I think they are clear, and it is easy to understand the emotions of the characters” (Runa).

I chose it because I liked the scene when Colonel Mustang’s said, “No, it’s raining” in front of the gravestone of his colleague Hughes. After the funeral, as soon as he is alone with his subordinate, Lt. Hawkeye, Colonel, says, “No, it’s raining” despite that it was not raining. And when Lt.
