A new series of the anime Kinnikuman will be produced to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its broadcast. In addition, a new visual of Kinnikuman, depicting his muscular back, has been released.
The original work of Kinnikuman was first serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump published from Shueisha in 1979 by author Yudetamago (Takashi Shimada in charge of the original scenario and Yoshinori Nakai in charge of the artwork). It is still serialised in Shukan Playboy and Shukupre NEWS, both published by Shueisha). The series has sold more than 77 million copies and is a very popular comic. The story is about Kinnikuman, a clumsy and stupid drop-out superhero from the planet Kinniku eventually grows into the strongest man in the superhuman fighting world through his hard work, friendship and victory.
