The anime “Suzume no Tojimari” directed by Makoto Shinkai has achieved great success in China, breaking the record set by “Kimi no Na Wa” in just 10 days.
The anime “Suzume no Tojimari” by director Makoto Shinkai (known as “Suzume” overseas) was released in China on March 24th and has been a massive success, breaking the all-time record for a Japanese animated film released in China in just 10 days.
The film premiered at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival in February and has since been released in various countries around the world. As of April 3rd, it has been shown in 11 countries and regions and has debuted at #1 in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam (in that order).
To promote the film overseas, director Shinkai has embarked on a world tour, traveling to Paris, London, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, New York, Mexico City, and Los Angeles. The film will continue to be released in more countries from April 13th onwards, including Europe, North America, India, Thailand, and other regions.
