The new “Rurouni Kenshin” will start airing in July
A new TV anime “Rurouni Kenshin – Meiji Swordsman Romantic Tan”, abbreviated as “Rurouken” will be broadcast in July in Fuji Television’s Noitamina slot, among others. The announcement was made at the “Fuji Television Animation Lineup Presentation 2023” held online.
The new TV animation of “Rurouken” will reconstruct the original story from the first episode using the latest animation technology. The director will be Hideyo Yamamoto who directed “Strike the Blood”, series composer will be Hideyuki Kurata, who worked on a series composer of Made in Abyss”, and other talented staff. The original author, Nobuhiro Watsuki, completely supervised all aspects of the story, including character design and scenario, and the cast has completely renewed to bring the world the new TV anime “Rurouni Kenshin,” some 30 years after the start of the serialization.
The series was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from 1994 to 1999. It is a popular work that has sold a total of more than 72 million copies. The story depicts the legendary swordsman Himura Kenshin, who was feared as “Battousai the Manslayer” at the end of the Edo period, and after the Meiji Restoration, he and his friends help people with a reverse-blade sword that cannot kill, under the oath of “no killing”.
